I've been thinking about terrorists, our politician's rhetoric, the behaviour of this country and our allies, and just trying to make sense of it.

Admittedly this is not likely to be particularly fruitful. Neither politicians nor terrorists are historically rational people. But you can't "win" against the enemy unless you try to understand them. (Although whether it's the politicians, terrorists or both who are the enemy is a debate for another day.)
